Hi, I'm Linda, but most of you know me as Lady Byrd.

I lost my only son, Shannon Marcellus Nelson, to COVID on February 6, 2022, just three days before my birthday. He was 52. He was the man in my life — my best friend. He was my child, and I did not want to go on. I didn't feel like I had a reason to live anymore.

Losing him broke my heart in a way I didn't know a heart could break, and there were days I didn't know how I would keep going.

In that darkness, God didn't leave me alone. He sent people to pray with me, sit with me, and simply let me cry. Slowly, I learned that grief and faith can live in the same heart, and that love doesn't end when a life on earth does.

Shannon wore Adidas almost every day of his life. In Seattle, everybody knew him as Mr. Adidas. So I started wearing Adidas in his honor. A friend at work suggested I share my outfits on TikTok, and every post I tell you a little about my son to keep his memory alive.

Something I never expected happened: you started showing up. What began as honoring Shannon has grown into a family of more than 13,000 people who show up for each other.

Today, every Sunday at 5 PM Pacific, we come together LIVE for Prayers for the World. We open in prayer, close in prayer, and in between we talk honestly about real life: loss, divorce, job changes, health, our children, whatever you're walking through.

If you're grieving, I see you. You don't have to have the right words. You don't have to have it all together. Just come as you are.

No one carries it alone.
